Time travel

According to 7 things to do with your blog when you take a vacation, Wordpress allows scheduling of blog entries. So, a test. But to stay on topic … what does time management have to do with knowledge management? I can think of several overlaps:

  1. Attention. There’s so much information to keep track of. I like this quote from Introduction to Knowledge Management : KM in Business (Todd R. Groff and Thomas P. Jones): “Attention is the currency of the Information Age, and trust is the bandwidth.” To take knowledge management seriously, I have to take the team’s time seriously.
  2. Prioritization. I could spend hours every day refactoring pages and cross-linking between new items my team adds to docs, to the wiki, discussion forums, etc. How much ROI does that provide for the team? Where is the *best* place for me to spend my time on, for the team?
  3. Organization/overview of deliverables. Our being able to see what’s due from all of us when, with what priority, actually falls under knowledge management.
